Hey guys! Super stoked, drew a LE archery deer tag with 13 points. Haven’t gotten any boots on the ground yet. Plan on going scouting at least once hopefully twice before season and going to take off enough time to hunt 10 days. Planning on mostly focusing on the public land in the northeast part of the unit. Was wondering if the public land in the southern part of the unit, south of the private is worth checking out. Also wondering if it would be worth navigating the private to check out some of the smaller pieces of private. Any help or info to help make my scouting trips more productive would definitely be appreciated! Thanks

They got winter killed really bad in the 22-23 winter. The genetics are there for big deer, but the population and age class took a massive hit. It will take several years to recover. I'd have low expectations.

Ya I took that into consideration when I put in for it. Honestly I was looking to burn my deer points, so I can start putting in for elk. I was hoping to shoot a 150-160 buck. Do you know which pieces of public would be the best places to check out?

I drew LE archery elk on the unit this year. I’ll keep an eye out for you, and some good bucks.
