Difference between Preference Points & Bonus Points...

Can anyone explain the difference between the two. I thought that the only difference was that the preference points were for the general deer hunt and the bonus was for LE hunts.

I went into the DWR and was talking to them about this last week and this is what I was told.

The bonus points are for the LE hunts, if you apply as a group the points are averaged and round down.

The preference points are established for the genearal deer hunt application. If you are the first person on the application in a group. The whole group will be based off of your preference points.

So if you put in for the draw and you have 4 points and the other 3 hunters have 0 points. You will be garanteed a southern rifle tag.

I am really questioning this. Does anyone have any insight on this?

When two or more applicants apply as a group, their preference points are averaged and rounded down..... Same as bonus points.
