Do I need a guide?

If I came up to Alberta would I have to hire a guide for Moose, Bear or deer. I have a friend in Drayton valley that has invited me to hunt with him. so my question is...if I am hunting with a resident do I still need to hire a guide?

If I am not mistaken I think your buddy can act as a hunter host for you. Here is a link to info on that.

your buddy can host you but only if the animal is on general season. For bear and Whitetails this should be fine. Moose around drayton is mostly on draw I think and Mule deer is in some areas is as well.

You could also hunt mule deer during archery season. Since the licenses are unlimited for archery, you can go with a hunter host during archery season.

You can go with your friend as a hunter-host once every 3 years. Your friend will need to do some paper work with the AB gov't before you get there.
