Just picked up a Patagonia Down sweater to use as an insulator under a waterproof shell. This is a full zip 800 fill power garment. My question is how warm will this thing be? Its very light an probibly only 3/4 or an inch thick. I perviously have been using a thick rag fleece zip up hoodie and wonder if this down sweater will be as warm or warmer. How good do down garments breathe?

Also asking for opinions on cabelas MT050 Quiet Pack gortex rainwear and Cabelas rain suede evolution rainwear.

I have been using Browning Hydrofleece gortex for years and it has been pretty good but its not avaliable anymore-it was easy to tear and the outer thin fleece would get soaked in a downpour but it dried fast. The MT050 and Rain Suede Evolution from Cabelas looks better than my old Hydrofleece as it does not have the light fleece outer to get soaked.
