Take a drive south east of durango,
and look at deer, they should all be
spread out south of the main hwy to
pagosa springs. You should be able
to see some big bucks.

mesa verde national park is about 30 miles west of Durango.

Tremble hot springs for a good soak

A couple of mueseums in town

Lots of good places to eat.

Vinni----PM me maybe we can get together. I've got a Christmas party with the Mrs. on Saturday nite & a Christmas Concert in Montrose on Sunday. It's tight but maybe we can.

Summer is the time for most of the tourist stuff.

here's a couple if they are open 1----try a tour of the DOW"S fish hatchery 2.-----Try a tour of Rocky Mtn Chocolate Factory.

Place to eat,
breakfast-----I like CJ's Diner, I usually get Max's breakfast burrito smothered in green chili sauce. They are closed on Sunday. My wife likes Oscar's. Another local spot is the Durango Diner on main. Christina's just west of town is also good.

Burger----best in town is Old Tymers.

Steak---Ore House but be prepared to spend $

Dinners-----If your wife wants something nice----Randy's or the Red Snapper come to mind. Francisco's has a little of everything-----nice place to. Or on Saturday nite the Casino in Ignacio has a prime rib buffet, it's $13------we go there aquite abit.

When you ride the train make sure you are watching when you leave town @ the Iron Horse Inn----a couple of local elk herds from there all the way to Hermosa. Not enough snow yet to bring the rest down.

Not enough snow to ski yet---it's open but it's not worth it.

You could also spot at "Goods for the Woods" & see the 39" oryx I got a the White Sands thanks to your post a few years back.

Forgot one----make sure you stop a the Strater Hotel. Qite a few antiques there & then go into the Diamond Belle Saloon. They have a old time piano player there. He plays the piano & sings old western songs. It's decor is the old west-----the bar maids are dressed up in dance hall costumes. It's like stepping back into "The Long Branch" with Miss Kitty from "Gunsmoke". If you remember that TV show.

Durango is a great little town. Make sure you drive through the old historic district. As mentioned before take a look at the Strater Hotel, and make sure you ask about the the secrect compartments! If your looking for a good soak, do check out Trimble hot springs. Oh and as weird as this sounds go up to the cemetary and look for some monster bucks!!!

great great

and we ll have my parents, my sister, her family ll be with us and for sure we ll check it out as u mentioned!!

thanks for the invite!! hope to meet if chance...

Two things I always try to do when in Durango; fly fish the river right behind Wal-Mart, and go to Gardenswartz sports downtown, and drool over the monster typical mule deer mount.

Durango...with a five year old boy? Trout hatchery! Go feed the big fish. From historic downtown take the highway north, as soon as you cross the river take a right(east).

we had great time visit here! saw the fish hatchery, the museums, and just got off polar express train, wish the North Pole have more decoration with the lights and etc but sons had fun! we took a walk on main street!

not too bad with the weather! and tomorrow we ll head home in the morning to beat the snowstorm in case!we wll come back in the summer to camp, to fish...

many thanks to make our trip fun! we are stayin at Residence Inn and it is very nice place to stay!!
