Looking into trying to hunt east canyon for a day this weekend since I had to return from our original area due to school, but never been up that way. Would I be better off hunting off the highway somewhere before(south of the lake) or going past the lake(north of it) and hunting. It looked like on the map there are dirt roads to the north of the lake not sure if that is all private? Appreciate any guidance anyone can offer.

Private every where. DNR patrols that area pretty heavily.

99% is private, but there is the WMA that is open to the public. To be honest, the WMA sucks until it gets colder later in the year. With a dry year like this, all the deer are probably higher up off the WMA.
