Im looking for a bigger day pack to carry day needs plus a tripod, 80mm swaro scope and 15x56 swaro binos. I will also be carrying a bow and sometimes a gun with this pack. So I guess I kind of looking for a larger day pack. The Eberlestock Halftrack caught my eye but I have never seen one in person. Anybody use one of these or seen it person?

I like the looks of Eberlestock's rip cord and bow bucket system and if I ever needed to carry a rifle I would probably use this system or a rifle scabbard.

Any thoughts on this pack?

Jeremy- have been using the Halftrack for the last 6 months. After several outings I have put my other packs in storage. I love the size of this panel loader. It is perfect for day trips or is plenty of space for 2-3 day bivy trips. Love the side pockets for my spotter and tripod. The pockets that line the main copartment are essential to keep gear handy and put away. The pocket on top is a little small when it comes exit/entry of gear. I believe this is now a 2 sided(L shaped) zipper instead of one sided(Thanks HARDCORE OUTDOOR). Comfort of the suspension system simply put is incredible and steadies the load perfectly. This is one all-purpose pack that can do it all very well. Hope this helps. CDN

LAST EDITED ON Jan-25-10 AT 08:01AM (MST)[p]By chance have you compared it to the Blue Widow?

Or does anybody have opinions on the Blue Widow pack?

I have the Blue Widow and like it a lot. I used it all fall this year deer hunting. It is larger but you have enough room to carry everything you need and you have the capability to pack out a load of meat if your lucky!

Does it have pockets to carry a spotting scope and tripod? It looks like the top pocket or the fanny pack would work good for the 15s.

Thanks for your reply.
Jeremy

Yes, the fanny pack would easily carry your 15x binos. If I were to carry a tripod and scope I would leave the scope mounted on the tripod and set the tripod in between the two large side pockets, tighten the two large compression straps, and let the top flap (with the fanny pack) come down over the scope. It would be snug as a bug in a rug!

Check out this link and scroll down, it shows what I am talking about.

All the just one packs have this same similar configuration. Or if you have the rifle scabbard and are just scouting not carrying a rifle you could use the scabbard for the tripod and scope.
