ELK HERD

I was wondering if the elk herd in 22 north was surviving through all the extra tags the last few years or not. I can't believe with that many tags that the population could stay the same it has to be declining.

The elk population is down in most units of Arizona because of the raping from the Game and Fish.

WE(2 GUIDES 1 HUNTER)SAW BULLS EVERYDAY ON MY 22N DECEMBER LATE HUNT IN 2008. TALKED TO OTHER HUNTERS WHOM HAD NOT SEEN ANY BULLS BY DAY 4.IT WAS DEFFINATELY A TOUGH HUNT BUT I CAME HOME WITH A GOOD BULL. MY OUTFITTER ARIZONA HIGH COUNTRY OUTFITTERS KNEW WHERE TO FIND THEM. ALOT OF HUNTERS WENT HOME EMPTY HANDED.

My son drew the late hunt and it was tough. Areas that were recommended from the first hunt came up dry. To me it seems that there is too much pressure. Basically from September through December there is either an elk hunt or deer hunt.
