Elk Hunt Decision!!!

I'm stuck between applying for 231 archery or 231 early rifle and 111's archery and 111's early rifle. I have 13 bonus points and I figure my chances are ????????? If I get lucky and draw which of these should be my first pick thru 4th. I'm looking for a good bull. The past applications have always had the early rifle hunt as my first choice. Also, I will be going with a guide to enhance my once in a lifetime hunt. What do you think?

The onces I talked too said archery! I've never killed a bull with a rifle. Only bow and muzzy.

so why dont you hunt either of those two areas in muzzy? lots better chances of huntin some bulls in the rut during the muzzle load season.

Go Archery. You will never regret it. It will be the most rewarding hunt you go on. Getting close to a giant bugling bull is heart pounding fun. Trust me, if you have a good guide, WOW. Look out

With 13 bonus points and a Res.You are over do to draw.Make Your 1st two choices archery(515,512) and don't forget the hunt on Mt Chas.(516),followed by the 2 Muz hunts (502,499).Both weapons choices will have Bugling.Unit 231 has some Great Bulls,and archery and Muz hunts are the way to tag one.Good Luck www.silvergrandoutfitters.com

That's a bit of a pickle. Only 1 out of 5 drew 231 rifle with 13 points last year. That Charleston tag would be great, but it's long odds.

I'm kind of surprised that one particular unit with a late hunt has been left out of the discussion here.
