Elk on the deer hunt

Took my 2 oldest on the deer opening. Saw some deer, but the excitement for the day was having this big boy run up to within 10 yards of us.

He had been running for a while, tongue hanging out. Came across the ridge and ran right down the draw to us. Told my kids to stand perfectly still and not make a sound, maybe he would run to us. Well he stopped by a dead tree 10 yards away, painting. Finally winded us and took off again. Pretty cool.

All kidding aside, what a fun experience. It's always fun to see wildlife, particularly up close.
