Went into the local sporting goods store at lunch today and ordered a VX III. Been working on pinching penney's for a year and a half, with little effect with all the bills, and finally got a good year end bonus. The old boy here in town will sell it to me for less, with tax, than I could order it from Cabela's or cheaperthandirt before shipping. Can't hardly wait to get it mounted and sighted in!

"40mm or 500mm." Didn't think I could find rings high enough for the 500 mm! lol
I ordered the basic. 3.5-10x40mm, duplex, matte. Should do the trick for me and look and work well on my old Savage 110. I thought about the 50 mm for a bit more light gathering power, but figured I'd have to get higher rings and that would set the tube a bit further from the barrel. I like to keep the scope as low as possible.
