First time Bear hunter

Rookie bear hunter drew San Juan early want to try spot and stalk just a few questions. Hunt runs April 4th - June 5th should I hit it hard the first weeks or is later better? Is there some country that might be better to hunt in to avoid those hunting with dogs? How soon will they rub? Thanks for any help.

I'm in the same boat I'm headed down the first week of the hunt just to look around.

Congrats on the tag Greenie! Give Randy Pixlar a call and book a hunt with him. He has some of the best dogs I have ever ran behind on the San Juan and is a really good dude.
