Foul Weather Gear

This years Elk hunt encountered rain, sleet and or snow, sometimes seemingly all at once, and since we hunt in roadless areas, walking is the main means of transportation. One day I tried a regular rain jacket only to end up as wet as without one due to the jacket not breathing at all. Another time I simply went out with a light weight poly long john shirt & a poly fleece pullover. Obviously that approach did not keep me dry at all, but seemed to work real well in terms of staying warm as long as I did not sit real long. The wind that morning was very light which is probably why I stayed as warm as I did. I would like to hear what everyone favors for outerwear to help keep dry but still be able to move in without drowning in my own perspiration in adverse weather conditions.

Goretex outer shell camo. I throw it on over my other layers... can take it off and store it in a pocket if things dry out during a day.
