I live in Michigan and am looking to purchase a digital infared scouting camera. Something that can take the cold and has long lasting batteries. What have you guys found to be good?

I use game cameras a lot and no matter which one you decide on make sure it is solar panel compatable. The solar panel that I use is around $30 and it is well worth it. Before I bought the solar panels I was spending more on batteries than if I had bought the solar panel to begin with. Another feature you might want to consider is the ability to preview your images on sight rather than taking the chip out or taking the camera down all together. Definately go digital. Hope this helps. Just some things I have learned over the years.

Well its a good thing you brought up digital. My friend set up a camera near a waterhole about two weeks ago. It is not digital and it is using batteries. I bet the darn thing is dead right now. We were suppose to pick it up this thur or fri. I think Ill tell him to invest and get the digital w/solar adapter. I dont have much experience in these cameras but maybe I should look into them since we will be using them for areas we can't scout on a regular basis! One other thing I wanted to add. We set this camera on a rock near the waterline of the waterhole. The reason for that was we didnt know which trail they were using to come in. We put the camera near the tracks on the waterline. So when they came to drink, "click" they got their picture taken. I hope this works!!!

I just returned a StealthCam (WD2) 3 days ago due to too many problems with it. I've done some research and quite a few people are now reporting similar issues to what I experienced. Perhaps your V330 (ie: WD3) is immune to them or something.

Heres a my review of the WD2:

Anyway I took it back to cabelas and traded it for a Bushnell 11-9200 which has much better pictures and a snazzy .25 second trigger time. The bushnell is in the field and I'll be getting first picts from it Saturday when I check up on it.

My only recomendation would be to get the cuddie back no flash if you 've got the money to spend, or one of their flash models for less money. Battery life is great, the pictures are clear, and the trigger time is second to none. Even better is the wildlife eye from MAD if you've already got a camcorder to use with it. But definitely check out the cuddie back

I use a Moultrey (sp?) and with the picture card it will hold over 2000 pictures on good quality. The 6 volt battery will take about 100 pictures. Since I have swithced to the solar panel I haven't had a problem. I have a camera that has been on one waterhole since June 1 and has 800 pictures on it and I haven't had to put a battery in it.
