General motors reported a 9.7 billion dollar profit for 2015. Most of the workers at their Kansas City plant to receive a $11,000 bonus. Nice news for treasury dept to receive income taxes on those bonuses.

In addition Home Depot announced they are hiring 80,000 temporary workers and that half of those would remain as long term employees. That is if they can find 80,000 people who want to work.
 
As usual DW takes the dumbest stand possible. the money we invested pays back every year in tax revenue we wouldn't see from imported cars built with foreign labor.


The US auto industry come back is the greatest success in the last 25 years.

Since GM was saved how much do you think
gm ,their workers and suppliers paid in federal, state and local income tax and how much in sales taxes to local businesses. Give me 10 billion I'll generate a little revenue too. How bout instead of rubbing the taxpayers nose in it by bragging on the bonuses you're given your employees you just pay back the taxpayer?

While it is true that us taxpayers took a hit of $9.3 Billion on stock along with $1.2 Billion on Chrysler. In the end the American Taxpayers recouped the entirety of the TARP plus an additional $30 Billion offsetting any losses from the auto bailout.

The bailout may well be proving to be the best investment our nation has ever made.

So if one looks at the TARP as a whole the taxpayers made money and saved GM.

I guess Home Depot can hire some of those workers from Wal Mart that is closing about 260 stores nationwide and all those workers out of a job.

The dealerships buys the cars from the manufacturer, so once they leave to be delivered to the dealerships they are paid for.

GM making record profits? Will there be a congressional investigation like there was when gas prices were over $4 a gallon and everyone was squealing about oil companies making money? I remember Sen. Feinstein was livid with big oil.

Nice Homer ? it's great that GM is doing better. So the next logical question is , when will the Unions begin demanding pay/ benifit increases in order to drive the company back into the Red? I'd like to see GM pay back their part of our nations 19,000 Billion Dollar debt. Obama called GW unpatriotic with a national debt of @9 T.....???? He has doubled it in 7yrs.....what gives.. I actually watched the DNC debate tonight and free everything was offered BUT NOT a single question from Rachael Maddow or Chuck Todd on what these freebies do to our national DEBT. Liberalism IS a mental disorder!

As for the 9 Billion, I posted a link earlier to explain the tax structure for GM, there are no taxes due to previous loss offsetting.

We still reap a giant windfall from payroll and corporate taxes from GM and their suppliers.

Don't let the Debbie Downers bring you down, they just do not want to hear anything good about the country under this or any President with (D) in front of their name.

Where would you ever come to the misguided view that an 11k bonus won't stop Union leadership from demanding increased wages and benifits. Pay attention young man... Can any of you libs hear explain how at least the question of the government handouts ( tax payer funded) of universal healthcare, free college, forgiveness of student loans was at least not brought forth for the candidates to explain with regard to effect on our national debt????? It's proven that a tax at whatever level of the 1% can not fund this crap. This is Not to mention mandates on employers for paid family leave.
