Hey all,

I thought I'd continue the rainfall totals for the Gila like last year. Here is the winter precip (October 2012- March 2013). Colored circles are 10 mile radius around each RAWS station. Towns are in italics, station names and rainfall totals in regular print. Unit boundaries in grey.

Again, data from here:
http://weather.nmsu.edu/climate/ws/network/raws/html/
and here:
http://www.raws.dri.edu/wraws/nmF.html

For reference, the 10 year averages during this period for a few station are:

Gila Center 6.1"
Magdalena 3.6"
Slaughter 5.7"

It's still dry out there....

Thanks for the info... If I'm reading this correct we are at 1/3 of the 10 year avg? Ouch! Appreciate you keeping us update on this vital piece of information.

Yeah, about that. But, sometimes looking at the range of values is a bit more helpful. Here's Slaughter since 2000

2000/01 10.46
01/02 2.09
02/03 5.31
03/04 9.15
04/05 11.13
05/06 2.15
06/07 2.3
07/08 5.79
08/09 4.81
09/10 7.7
10/11 2.59
11/12 6.48

The other complication is depending where the data comes from, the total precip may be different (even for the same station). Weird, but that's how it is. I think general trends are more telling and I'll try to keep updating this as it goes.

salsosa, thanks a ton for posting these up. I looked forward to seeing these each time you updated it last year!

Thanks,

Looks like the changed the url for the website I posted. Here's the RAWS data page if you want to look up those exact stations:

Here's another good page a member posted last summer:

I haven't had a chance to update the map, but maybe towards the end of the month. A quick look at two of the stations (Beaverhead and Slaughter) showed a little rain since May 1 (1/4" at slaughter and about 1/2" at Beaverhead).

thanks for the info Ive been trying to keep an eye on the beaverhead area because I have the 21A tag. did you guys get any rain last night?
