Gilbert's Peak

Curious if anyone has hunted elk near Gilberts Peak. If so, what was it like. We are not looking for a 350 class bull, just some good hunting with an oppurtunity at something, anything really.

North Slope just east of King's Peak...looking at possibly hunting the area to the east/northeast of kings...

My brother had seen moose and goats but no elk. I've been on King's a coupel times but not on Gilbert. I have a goal to do it but I would only do it for adventure... not elk hunting.

Where on the north slope would you suggest for a raghorn elk?

I've spent some time out there climbing around and even had a Mtn Goat tag (west of there) but I've seen very few elk and little sign. I guess that means I don't know enough about it to help you. I know there are guys who do pretty well every year in that country but I'm not one of them. Sorry.

Lots of moose and goats though. The last time on King's I saw a whopper moose! One of the biggest Shiras I've seen in UT.

Climbed it many years ago and I remember seeing elk and lots of sign on the way.

I used to hunt in there for elk. Some years it was good most were not. Seen more elk during archery than rifle season. It's beautiful country and some decent fishing. Great Moose hunting that's for sure.
