I've got a friend that showed me some self-defense bullets for a .44 Mag. They are 127grn, at 1950 fps. They are not, but they are like the Glaser Safety Slugs, in that it is a HP Bullet w/plastic in the HP, and pellets in the bullets body. When it hits a soft medium, there are a heap of small pellets/bb's that come out and go all over the place. Supossedly, they will not shatter/break apart on bone, boards and etc. The box says that they are deadly on deer sized critters. What be your thoughts on dem der new fangled things?

the deer size game that they are deadly on is a human. they were designed to be used by sky marshalls in a plane to prevent pass though pentatration of the human target and going though the air plane skin.
They are a good self defense load to be used in a home where you do not want the bullet to end up in your kid's bedroom after shooting a intruder.
Don't use them on deer, or any game, too much of a chance the animal getting away and dying a slow lingering death.
