My son put his new birthday present to good use this morning! The 870 youth 20 gauge flattened this big ol' Tom from 15 steps. I couldn't be happier for my boy & am so grateful for the memories made today. This was his 1st harvest after completing hunter safety last fall. He is such a good kid & I'm so proud of him for being safe, having a positive attitude, appreciating the privilege of hunting, & respect for Mother Nature & all her wonderful creations. We had 50 birds all around us & he patiently waited for this 9 1/2" bearded strutter to come by. We got in our blind at 5:45, just as the birds started waking up. We watched them in the roost until they flew down at around 6:15. The big flock worked their way to us with a dozen or so strutters. He had his bird by 7:30. Hopefully his big sister can get her chance next week when I have my kids again. Way to go buddy!!

That's awesome. Congrats to both of you! I was out tonight and was in birds but didn't get it done. Can't wait to get back out next week
