I used my points this year to dual apply with my 12 year
old son to pull us Wyoming unit 107/0 antelope tags...
My boy is literally Xing the days off the calendar, hes excited.
It's an early opener,,August 20th, Only a month till we can
let lead fly......
I've done the Wyoming antelope a couple of times before so I've got a good idea what were in for,,,should be real fun.
Hope to be posting pictures soon! Good luck to all with tags.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-18-10 AT 04:15AM (MST)[p]I took my two sons to Wyoming on there first hunting trip to hunt antelope and now more than 15 years later they still talk about that first trip.
Good luck to you and have a great time.

Good luck! You will be fine with the muzz. As much as antelope hunting is supposed to be a long-range pursuit, most of the antelope I have shot have been inside 200 yards, and many not much more than 100 yards!

Thanks,,We've been setting up and playing with the muzzle loaders
we are going to use for months. I know a lot of "traditional"
guys don't like in-lines and scopes but,, "to each his own."
We are taking full advantage,,magnified scopes are legal..

Here's my set up,,50 cal.3 x 9 Pentax..
Shooting 110 grains pyrodex and Hornady sabot SST-ML 250 GR.

And this is my boys set up....
45 cal. 3 x 9 Nikon,,,Using 100 grains pyrodex and
Hornady sabot SST-ML 200 GR bullets...
It has a kick pad and a muzzle break,,very little re-coil.
The kid can shoot it AWSOME! Hope he can hold steady on a lope.

Here's a photo of my son on the very first antelope hunt I ever took him on. He was about 5 or so at the time and he got hooked. I took him on many more and finally he got old enough to hunt and we hunt them every year we can draw a permit. We lucked out and drew this year so hopefully we will have a few photos of a few more antelope come fall.

Here's a photo of him with one of the bucks he has taken through the years. He is now 28. Boy how time flies.

Good luck to you and your son. You made a great choice to use your points and share them with your son! I wish you both well, as they are some of the best times in your life.

Have a good one. BB

Good stuff right there BB. There's nothing like antelope hunting, be it rifle, bow, or muzz!

Goofyelk, looks like you got some nice setups there. I agree, to each his own.

BB,,That's awesome!
I've done the same with my boys, The 12 year old that has the
tag has been right at my side with the bow and seen 2 antelope
and a bull elk harvested,,hes hooked.
This was last year archery, both boys watched me stalk and shoot
this one.
