To all of those chasing Oryx this weekend, good luck.

Looks to be decent weather this weekend, if a litle wet on Sunday.

If you happen to see any 40"+ broken horn, let me know.

Thanks Vini,

Probably be the only time I ever get an oryx tag, and it's a Broken Horn, but I will be thankful for every minute.

We filled our tag @ 9:30 this morning with a good size oryx, with small broken horns ( about 6" and 12" ) but LOTS of meat.

She was bedded down ~50 yds off the road behind some bushes, and I had to get out of the truck in full sight, AND get 40 feet off the road, all with her watching.

When I was about 25 feet off the road and about 100 yds from her, she stood up, so I moved as quickly as possible the rest of the way directly from the road (more like ran the 15 feet), she spun 180 degrees from south to north, and I put one in the boiler room.

When we cleared the check in at about 11AM ( we had skinned our oryx at the top of the hill ), there were only 5 successful hunters so far including us, with the biggest cow going 36".

When we left, the wind was starting to pick up pretty good, so I don't know how much movement there was going to be for the rest of the day.

Good Luck to those who haven't filled yet, and congrats to those who have.

NMYB,

Nothing wrong with that Oryx. Having a great hunt with family/friends and filling the freezer with some great meat for a second time this year is always a good thing. Good luck on the draw for other Oryx tags. It would be nice to know the final hunts stats for this weekend. When they are available could you please share on forum or PM?
