He wants to ban shooting in unincorporated areas throughout Utah to prevent more wildfires, but is still allowing the sale and use of fireworks. Is it me or is our political leaders totally f'n retarded. These guys have no sense at all.

I think your comments could be just as easily directed to the bozos that keep shooting inappropriately. Those are the real bright ones.

Both are idiots. The retards out shooting guns in the foothills should be shot 1st. Then the rest of the government. Ban all fireworks BEFORE you ban guns. I bet the next month will be hell with fires on Houses, fields, trees and so on.

Yes sled the people shooting inappropriately are definatley at fault, but to still allow fireworks and ban shooting is not good judgement.

They should restrict during this time all target shooting to approved ranges and fireworks displays to appropriate venues.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-04-12 AT 08:29AM (MST)[p]He didn't ban shooting. certain types of ammo were banned. You all need to get a grip.

1.Setting, building or using open fires of any kind, except campfires built in facilities provided for them in improved campgrounds, picnic areas or permanent improved places of habitation.
2. Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site or while stopped in an area at least 3 feet in diameter that is barren or cleared mineral soil.
3. Discharging or using any kind of fireworks, tracer ammunition or other pyrotechnic devices.
4. Cutting, welding or grinding metals in areas of dry vegetation.
5. The use of any steel-jacketed or steel-core ammunition of any caliber.
6. Use of exploding targets that are detonated when struck by a projectile such as a bullet from a firearm.

Oh and....

State officials determined Monday that authority to impose restrictions rests with the state forester. Utah Gov. Gary Herbert suggested earlier he may have the ability to ban fireworks and target shooting statewide, but said after a meeting with legislative leaders and state attorneys that he didn't want to have that theory tested in court.

So put your blame on the state forester...

Very good info there travis,,,,,Thanks.

Guys shooting their bows better pray they don't miss their targets. If that arrow sparks while hitting any kind or size of rock and starts a fire, the bowhunt could get cancelled. Use caution out there gents. Lol. Damn fires anyway.
