Actually hossblur, we don't disagree on the island hunt. I was never in favor of it. There was never a need for it. But like you said, the dwr/sfw (same thing) got it approved in spite of the public's, and my opinion/vote.
Financially, it put a whole lot of money in the state coffer that the island can't use. There's just not that much that can be done with habitat out there, with lack of water, bison population. They don't want to grow more deer, they have to remove them as it is.
As for WLH, I know zero facts, just heard that their hunter killed a sheep in an area closed to them. Whether that's a screw up, or arrogance, it shouldn't matter, both hunter/guide should be charged, and prosecuted. That's a no brainer. Will it happen? Well, it sure as crap would if it was you or me.
As for behavior of guides working for an outfitter, like bullying, blocking roads, threats, or arrogance, I, like you, read 2nd/3rd/4th hand stories, but after 15+ years, you'd think that someone would have video proof. My guess is 90% fabrication. Which also means it does, and has happened. I have 2 1st hand accounts, that I consider trustworthy. One was with Mossback, the other with WLH. The MB incident resulted in termination of guide. Nothing will happen with the WLH incident.
From personal experience, I know Doyle goes out of his way to make sure he is doing things that will not put MB in a bad light. People hate him. Mostly out of jealousy because he is good at his job. Some because his clients get prefferencial treatment with repeated tags with no waiting period etc. He doesn't make the laws or rules, but he does do his best to follow them. I could give you multiple examples, just from the island where he is obeying the rules that the island manager puts in place for the hunters, that the others repeatedly disregard. Nobody, including yourself, is going to give backlash to a state hunter for breaking those rules. You simply could care less. But if Doyle did that, you and others would be screaming preferential treatmnent, as evidenced in pervios posts.
You and I still have never met in person. I think we could enjoy a trip together looking at the island bucks. Might even become good friends. But we have different likes, attitudses, and beliefs. We are different. But we both have people who hate us, and like us, based on our opinions. I'm a BYU fan, my neighbor is a UTE fan. We get a long great, even though we have different points of view, and behaviors. I don't hate you, or dislike you. I only disagree with SOME of the things you say, if I feel, or know, they are incorrect. I may, or may not, voice my opinion, depending on the subjects. Sometimes, I just don't care. As for this ram issue, and WLH, we should all care, and hope that if if the ram was killed by the gov tag holder on the Nebo unit, charges need to be filed. I would feel the same way if MB, or my own kid was involved.
