GRABBER SCREWS PROBABLY???

Elk, there's a whole slug of these slipshot wanna be contractors running around here building junk just like that deck. Also, a lot of GC's are using these guys because their cheap or they're just doing it themselves when they're not really qualified to do anything except schedule subs. And then the neighbors who just bought their house see these clowns working and bring them over to do work on their place because they just don't know any better. Also, lots of homeowners think they can do it themselves.

I Hear you Shadow!

I see things every Week/day that is a total Joke out on Job Sites!

When I see the Lack of KNOW HOW/QUALITY it really Aggitates me!

When I see So Called Pro's doing SUB-Standard Work it Pisses me off!

Sometimes when a home owner buys the cheap fix, they get what they pay for. Any bets on whether the installer has liability coverage??

I Got nothing against a Good Screw Uncle Sage!:D

For Years We've heard others talk about using Grabbers when in Reality it shoulda been Lag Bolts!

Guess what I'm sayin Uncle Sage is:

"Right Tool for the Job"!

Or:

"Do the Job Right & The Porch won't Fall off the House"!

Nails?

You Ain't Driving them in to the Modern Day Wood I've seen for many years now!(Not without an Air Powered Nail Gun!)

Carriage bolt the ledger board to the house and don't forget the flashing above the ledger board. And they along with the joist hanger nails better be double electro galvanized. That said I hate decks, especially 2nd story decks, and will never have one. People are killed and injured annually from failing decks both old and new.

Screws? I had one of these called "German Lady's legs", a vintage cork screw that i remember selling for $100. when raising some needed cash at a "yard sale". Mine was exact same, a neat item i thought but it needed to go.
