I would like to describe my hunting area with hopes of painting a good enough picture for advice on how you might hunt it. I know it's not as good as seeing it for yourself but it's worth a discussion anyway.
Assuming temperature is lows of 30 at night to highs of 65 during day.
Topography is steep and rolling, some moderate canyons with creeks and foliage/timber but the remainder of the hills are mostly grass and sage with pockets of timber, some rocky patches and rock face cliffs.
Water through plenty of creeks and food is everywhere
This area is miles and miles from any civilization
No pressure from hunters other than myself
Elevation ranges from 4500 to 7000'
I know there are good bucks and plenty of deer in the area from scouting but come hunting time (even though the area is completely devoid of pressure) I can't seem to get on a good buck. I'm five miles in from any road. Thanks for your thoughts.
