Hornady 175 ELD-X 28 Nosler Issues

Grouping OK at 100. At 200 and 300 I'm lucky if 1 bullet hits paper.

Could the bullets be heating up and disentegrating? Seems like they should be stable ~3200 fps at 600? elevation.

Scope and rail are torqued down.

Any ideas or suggestions? I've got some 180 Bergers ordered I was hoping to make these Hornadys work with their higher BC.

It's a pretty long bullet, but you'd think a 1 in 9 would stabilize it.

I have no ideas or suggestions for you just a comment on the 175?s... I shoot them out of my 280ai and they're money out of that rifle...
I know I couldn't get Bergers to shoot great out of the same rifle, some barrels just like and dislike certain bullets...

Give those Bergers a try and I hope they shoot lights out for you...

Bullets def aren't heating up. I'd check the barrel twist myself with a cleaning rod. Sometimes a factory gun says 1 in 9 but really might be 1 in 9.25 instead. Sounds like the bullet isn't stabilizing. Those bullets need a 1 in 8.5. I'll bet the 162 ELDXs shoot lights out in your gun.

All kidding aside, you're not getting stable bullet flight if you cannot hit the target at 2-300 yards. Meaning, your twist is too slow.

30Hart is right, the easy test is load up a few 162 ELD-X and give it a whirl.

This is not a barrel twist issue. An extra .5" won't take a bullet from shotgun to tack driver. Why even shoot at 200 or 300 if the 100 yard groups are just "OK"?
