Watching the auction online and man guys are ready to spend money today on elk and deer tags. Lots of tags in the 30K range for the Pahvant and SJ. Heck I think the MT deer tag even went for like 25kish. Lots of money floating around today. Also is the Fishlake premium worth 15K?

Another year of muli million dollar hauls, its no wonder $FW was able to not only save the mule deer, but make Utah mule deer heaven. I know I am excited to be alive during the golden age of mule deer. That 7ish% of the total they give back has been a phenomenal success, I know the state could have never had an online auction and just kept 100%. Its just too hard for them to have a system to auction a few hundred tags, their system is only capable of handling all the other tags, thank gawd $fw was able to relieve the stress on the DWR system by taking those tags. I know for me and my family we are eternally grateful to them for that and believe we should just turn over all tags and wildlife revenue for the entire state to them next year, I mean if we did, there would be more deer than people in utah in what 2 years?
I was a doubter for sure, all those emercency proclamations from $FW starting just a few years(decades) ago begging for dollars so they could save the mule deer. I doubted that a group set up by a lobbyist and a handful of outfitters and guides would do anything other than enrich themselves and set up buisnesses for themselves. I doublted that they would accomplish anything other than make money, and increase their political power. Just look at how wrong I was, mule deer populations are exploding, big horned sheep are disease resistant, the moose is expanding its range, and Antelope Island, on the verge of literally sinking into the lake, has been saved. Its been a great couple of decades thanks in part to $fw. The 100,000 hunters they cut out totally agree that its worth everything they have done to save the mule deer here in Utah!! I can't wait to see what the next couple of decades under their stewardship we can expect here in Utah. I am sure the 50,000 other deer hunters than get tags cut will also be excited to save the mule deer. I know I am also excited, with lagoon spending so much on that new roller coaster, hopefully we can save lagoon and auction off a tag for that elk they have. I know the tag they auction for the one remaining moose in utah should fetch a good ammount, and the idea of THE DON as both governor and prophet is so genius I dont know why we didn't do it earlier!! WOW what an exciting time it will be, if we just continue to let $fw do their thing!!

So what have we learned??

$FW and Money Deer Foundation
No longer need to hold an actual banquet to
Take in their 10%.

$FW and Money Deer Foundation successfully
Created Fantasy Deer Island for one of their check
Writers. If I kicked in $400K a year could I get my own
Fantasy Elk Island?? How bout a cool million and I just
Take unit 17b for the general archery hunt for me and my
Beer drinking, arrow flipping buddies??

A whole @ssload of you are gonna run down to the Western
Destruction Of The Public Trust Expo and give them money
To further strengthen their position with the DWR and state
Legislature if you think funds from this expo aren't being used to lobby
Against yourself you are nuts.

The $FW and Money Deer Foundation bootlickers will be along
Shortly to tell us how lucky we are to have two great orgs like
These that are looking out for us ungrateful bastards.

CAT.... Didn't I tell you 10 years ago this chit was coming???

"The future is large scale auction tags.
The majority of the tags should go up
for auction anually. It MIGHT even be
good to allow second sales of auction
tags as in outfitters purchasing tags
and then re-selling them to the public."

The caribou auction tag was the most fun to watch during the auction. For a minute it didn't look like anyone wanted to pay more than $110,000 for the Antelope Island deer tag. Then it managed to creep up to $390,000. The Nevada Heritage deer tag went for $100,000 which is a new record. I was shocked that the San Juan elk tags didn't go for near as much as the Boulder and Beaver tags.

I am in the wrong business.

YBO,
They go tonight. The NM deer tag went for 82,500. The Jicarilla 80,000. UT, AZ, CO all go tonight along with the Henry's. It was a great night. Amazing to see the generasitie of some of our fellow sportsmen and women. Hats off to them for helping preserve the future of our hunting heritage.

I don't even dare guess. Lots of people stepping up. But I think you're probabaly ballpark with those numbers. I'll post them up tonight.

I bet they won't allow wolves on antelope island with the money they are making from those hunters, you would think by now they would give out a few more tags for that hunt.
