Looking for info on idaho whitetails. Hunted elk in unit 10
(lolo b dworshak area) last year. Saw lots of elk but could'nt
find any horns. Nothin but cows. While there we saw some pretty good whitetail bucks. Is this a good area to target whities?
Are there better areas? I've killed a few elk in my day but have never hunted whitetails. After seeing the bucks last year i think i want to go after them. I have heard that maybe further north is better. I like the fact that the tags are easy
to get. Well any way any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Barry

As you discovered N Idaho has some big whitetails and lots of them.
They get very little pressure.
Check out the seasons in that area, most of the seasons are during prime rut.
If we get an early snow they really come down out of the forest in big numbers and your chance at a very nice one is good.
That is as good an area as any.
You need to get a Clearwater tag to hunt them in that area.
They are readily available over the counter, always have lots left over.
