Will be staying at Three Rivers resort, and will be doing some ATVing in the mountains. I am obviously late, but wanted to know of any shed areas to try or a specific altitude to focus on. I am an Iowa whitetail hunter so I have little knowledge out west. I am a teacher so as much as I want to do a back country muley or elk hunt, it just doesn't work in my schedule.

I am sure things have been picked over, but you never know. If anyone has any tips or areas to check let me know. We take the trail leading out of Three Rivers quite a bit and go over into the Tincup and Pitkin area.

Would love to come out in March and "trade" a few days of shed hunting in Colorado for the same here in Iowa. If anyone has access to some good land. I come from a family of farms and have over 1,000 acres of hunting ground in Iowa along with 400-700 more of acres that I have access to hunt.

Thanks,

Skyler

Just saw this, so hope I can help some.

We found sheds last year on our deer hunt in 54, which would be north of Blue Mesa Reservoir. Most of them that we found were within a few miles of the highway at mid level elevation and below most of the timbered area on down to near the private land. We found sheds on all of the forest service access roads off of the highway along the reservoir.

I would also look south of there on what would be unit 67 at similar elevations. They may be higher this year as I think they have had a pretty mild winter. Good luck and have fun.

I am not from CO so a local may have more or better info. Just trying to give a little help.
