My whitetail setup is 58 lbs, shooting a 100 grain Muzzy 3-blade, Carbon Impact arrow. Total arrow weight is 387 grains. Shot at 250 fps, that results in a KE of 54 ft-pounds. Is this adequate for elk? What do others shoot for arrow weight and speed?
I've experimented with different weight broadheads (75, 100, 125) and the KE remains about the same for all.
