Javelina - 24a

I am heading out on my first javelina hunt at the end of the week. I am an avid archery hunter, but never hunted javelina. I have been studying up on javelina.

If you have any helpful tips on hunting javelina in general or on locations I should try on unit 24a please let me know. Thanks in advance.

WHAT I CAN TELL YOU FROM EXPERIENCE IS THAT ONCE YOU LOCATE SIGN FROM PIGS THERE USUALLY FAIRLY CLOSE BY.LOOK AROUND WASHES AND LOOK TO WHERE THE SUN HITS THE MOUNTAINS FIRST THING IN THE MORNING.THATS USUALLY WHERE YOU CAN FIND THEM FEEDING AND SUNNING.ALMOST ALWAYS WHEN YOU BUST PIGS UP THERES ONE OR TWO THAT HAVENT MOVED.YOU CAN LOOK UP MORE INFO ABOUT YOUR UNIT ON THE AZGFD.COM WEBSITE. I was scouting in 24B last thursday and saw a bunch of pigs. Not the same unit, but similar strategy will be employed.....I saw a dozen or so pigs climbing up a steep hill (sunny side)....they were pretty easy to spot moving up the mtn.....

Sunny side of mountains in the morning is great spot to glass pigs. If its rainy out look in there caves and most of the time you will find them all bunched inside keeping dry. With the wind in your favor you should easily get up close within twenty yards. They cant see very good but hearing and smell is real good.
