Jordan Valley Deer Potential

I have a buddy who was given a landowner tag for a large ranch near Jordan Valley. He recently lost his wife who worked for the highway patrol and a good friend gave him the tag near JV since he likes to hunt. Obviously do not need any direction as this is private, but just wondering what size of deer he should expect to see. He has a choice of a valley or mountain hunt. He will probably go for the mountain hunt as he loves to get ou t and hunt hard.

Since oregon is managed for quanity of tags and not quality of animals, I would tell you buddy to think twice about passing a 160 buck....Unless he has seen bigger in scouting.

I hunt the Jordan valley area religiously. Don't pass on a 150 class. Tag soup awaits you, if you do. Private can hold a hog. The landowner will know what he's got on the property. Public is ugly. Quality/Quantity is way,way down. Good luck on the hunt.
