Court throws out Berkeley, California's ban on natural gas

A federal appeals court has overturned Berkeley, California's first-in-the-nation ban on natural gas in new construction, agreeing with restaurant owners who argued the city bypassed federal energy regulations when it approved the ordinance.

We had a developer here who proposed a subdivision out near me. It had houses and retail lots for stores and restaurants. He went before the planning department and people showed up and said they would sue if it included any natural gas hookups. The developer said ".... you" and walked out.

Our entire state is a frickin joke. We are building a homeless encampment for 144 homeless people on a 40 acre parcel right near the government buildings in the middle of our city. The annual maintenance cost on it is 1.6 million a year. That's $133,000 per month. The construction is in the 10's of millions.

There is something about natural gas that our government fears. I haven't figured it out yet but their opposition towards it is illogical and counterintuitive to the other environmental claims that they make. But they are becoming more zealous in their attack on it.

It sure isn't about cleaner environments or free societies.
