Lazy A$$ Hunters

I know we have beat the issue of ATVs to death, but this just got my goat this last weekend. We hunt an area down in the Fishlake area where there is a trail so well marked as closed with a log fence across it and a big sign saying "no motorized vehicles allowed" that you would have to be an IDIOT to just blow by it. This guy was driving a Polaris Ranger with fancy aluminum wheels and 3 passengers (2 were kids). This guy would drive off what used to be the trail to the ridge line to glass because he was obviously too damn lazy to get his fat butt out of his vehicle to walk. What does this show the kids that were with him? I hope the guy that did this is a reader of this sight and I hope he reads this because he gives everybody that uses ATVs responsibly a bad name. Thanks IDIOT.

Unless you took the time to report him, your rant does absolutely nothing. You know what the machine, what kind of rims he had, how many passengers, but what did you do about it?

LAST EDITED ON Aug-29-05 AT 01:31PM (MST)[p]Okay, You just stole my post. I was going to post the exact same thing you just said. I was out there sunday and I seen where someone had driven all over out there. My dad and I have made several trips walking into there this year and it really pisses me off that someone would do that. They tore it up out there. I noticed that the tracks were abnormally wide.

bullelk97, I sent you a p.m.

what gets me is that guys will beat themselves to death on a quad when it's easier to walk in a lot of the stuff. quads are a wonderfull tool when used right. a plague on society when used wrong.

Use your binoculars and see if they have the 5 digit number your suppose to have on the back of the machine if it is properly registered...then call it in.

We did use binoculars but where he was on the ridge he was broadside. We found out today where he was camped and what he was driving. If he is down there next weekend or the week after when we are there he will get turned in.

...and get a $175 fine. Take the damn machine away in this blatant of an offense and then I would guarantee that this guys families and buddies wouldnt be riding around "No Motor Vehicle" signs anymore.

Ban em!

Well this scares the hell out of me. Being down there on 24-25th on a green Ranger. No fancy wheels and only 1 passenger.
We were camped close to Lost Creek Res.

Did the ranger have a top or anything else on it?

Sucks to have other's around doing this. Even worse when you are driving the same type of machine.

Very discouraging when its hard to hear the elk early in the moring due to the sound of 4-wheelers. Very discouraging indeed.

If you don't understand this sign, then you should not be hunting. It means NO VEHICLES WITH MOTORS. They should have it worded: Only horses or foot traffic allowed PERIOD.
