I have one and love it, its light and compact, great for backpacking, just make sure you get a good tripod. Russ

I have the 12x40x60mm and love it. Have you looked on ebay for a used one. It might be closer to your budget. I buy a ton of stuff on ebay and get some great deals. Just bought a brand new 4.5-14x40mm VX-III with the B&C reticle for $500. They are $679.00 everywhere else. Just a possibility!!!
