for 2020, if I purchase a turkey license for spring, does that cover me on the non-refundable license requirement to apply for big game hunts as well? minus of course the cost of the deer tag or whatever I apply for.

Yes. Because to purchase a turkey license you have to buy the game hunting license. But in the reverse they do not start selling the spring turkey licenses until the draw is complete. So when you put in for a hunt it will cover you for spring turkey license purchase. If that makes sense.

The answer is NO. A spring turkey does not count as your game license. You have to buy the game License to apply for hunts or/and to hunt turkey. Either way you have to buy it once a year. Like posted above the spring turkey doesn't go on sale until after draw deadline.
