I am planning a 4th season elk rifle trip to this area . Does anybody know anything about it good or bad. I was wondering if the 4th season was to late for good hunting because of weather or hunter pressure. And is this a good access point for the san jaun forest.There is 2 hunter on this trip and we have all the material needed to camp or i would also rent a cabin if avaliable.

I know the park ranger personally, he could give you more info on the area during that season. Had a friend who hunted it last year with his 12 y/o son. . . son missed a couple of bulls. Limited tags, surrounded by public pressure makes it a good hunt. Where are you coming from. adam.

Coming from pa . Still not certain if i am making the trip . I have work and a few other issues to deal with before i decide form sure. I heard they have opened up 1200 acres for hunting . Do you know what section this is in. Thanks for the reply
