luera mt access

Can anyone tell me about the access to Luera mt in 16e? It looks like it is all state trust land, surrounded by private. Just wondering if you can get onto the mountain during elk season? Thanks.

Thanks Vini. Do you know if the old g&f access road is still open on the south side of the mountain by paddy's hole.

Yes you can access, but holy crap you better have some spare parts packed for your rig. More of an ATV road than anything. G&F owns the road, and i don't think they have EVER maintained it.

You also have to drive in and out every day. No camping is allowed unless you have permission from the SLO or lessee.

Thanks guys. Do you know if the road on the south side of the mountain is open to travel? According to the map it runs east and west through some private land. Looks like you could go most of the way around the mountain, if that road was open to the public.

The road on the south side is the G&F road. There is another road on the east (southeast --ish) that runs through private. I talked to him, he does not allow you to use this road. However, if your wanting to camp in Lueras, he is the lessee of the state land so you would want to ask him. Forget his name...
