magnum primers vs standard

Getting ready to reload some .243, the only thing i have is Remington 9 1/2 magnum large rifle primers due to not being able to find any. I know by looking in my reloading manuals that some loads use a magnum primer. Just wondering how much of a difference a magnum primer will make as opposed to standard large rifle primers? Do i have to reduce load any?
My understanding is that they do burn a little hotter but dont know if they actually add enough pressure to worry about.

Any time you change a component like that the books generally tell you to start over and drop the powder charge and work back up. I think it's best to go by the "better safe than sorry" motto!

The old rule of thumb is to subtract 2 grains when using a magnum primer on a load tested with standard primers.

What about same scenario with small pistol loads such as 9mm?

The guys are funny,
but they are right.

You're gonna get some
more pressure possibly
with the mag primers.

Probably not alot, but if you're
already loading hot, always check.

May not amount to a tinkers damn.

But best to pay attention.
