If you had a real trophy Buck all set up for opening day, would prepare, and collect his DNA to make his legacy live on?

Searched on forum and found some 2010 topics similar. Curious if there is new knowledge. We are anticipating tags in some great mule deer country this season. If it was practical we want to be prepared to draw semen as soon as we get out of camp. Any good procedures out there for post mortem...

The best chance to retrieve viable sperm should happen within 24 hours. Longer time = less viable sperm.

And, you should use a veterinarian's services.

No this is the last thing I’d do. We have guys making money living in mom’s basement picking up sheds and making YouTube videos. We don’t need them jacking off deer for money.

If we collect their semen we can kill every single buck instead of leaving a couple of yearling bucks on the mountain each year.
