HAHA! Yeah, not nearly as bad as cutting it off! (How'd that effect your hunt?) In fact, it doesn't even really hurt - I just can't move / straighten it! The splint gets in the way of everything and is pretty annoying though!

It takes a fair amount of time to diagnose mallet finger. When did the injury happen?

A few years back I shattered my Thumb!

With a Big Mallet,lol!!!

No matter what you do,you always Bump the Sore Throbbin SOB!

About 3 months later It was getting to where I could tollerate it!

Then I was drivin a Nail with a 20 oz Eastwing with waffle stomper face!

Somehow my Sore Thumb got right atop the nail head & Wow did I smack it & SOB did I ever see Stars!

F'n thing would of felt better if somebody would'of cut it off!

We were getting ready to leave for the hunt... I used my middle finger, turned out ok. My dad had to gut my deer cause I couldn't....

BTW, it is also caused when an injured finger is not properly treated. As an example, if you break the first joint of a finger...or sometimes have a bad sprain...and it isn't treated properly, the tendon will never be able to straighten out.

Ya gots to wear the splint.

It's been about 2 weeks now. I had it X-ray'd and then went and seen an Orthopedic Hand Specialist. I've had it in a splint since my first doctor visit on the day it happend.

I had the same thing a couple years ago. I was play ice hockey and got cross checked from behind Knocking me to the ground. I had my stick in my hands sandwiching my fingers between the stick and the ice. The fat a@@ that hit me fell on my stick and just about popped the finger right off. Took my glove off and the finger was 180 degrees the direction at the last knuckle. Didnt hurt much but look like hell. Almost perfect now, just a little bent.
