My family has a cabin up there and that's where we have rifle hunted every year for the last 20 years--my dad and my uncles have hunted there for 20 years before that, so in a total of 40 years of hunting deer on Monroe our family has been fortunate to harvest 2 deer worthy of hanging on the wall. The elk have pretty well taken over that mountain and kicked the deer out, granted there are still quite few 2-points running around. I have been a dedicated hunter for the last seven years and have come to terms with the notion that I wont see any shooter bucks up there, but to carry on the tradition of getting together with the family once a year makes it worth it. You won't catch me up there on the bowhunt or muzzleloader--I'm up there all summer looking at elk and very seldom see a shooter buck. Anyway, good luck on your search for good hunting grounds.
