Is there a way to put in for a point for the general area tags? Or do have to put in and hope I don't draw this year? I would like to try to do a DIY elk and deer trip in '09, but this year would be too soon. Any ideas?

you have to apply for a hunt and not draw, tag price up frount..
may take 2 or 3 points to draw a combo tag so it boils down to how lucky do you feel...

Yip, there is no way to put in for points only. If you put in you could draw. You could send the tag back in for a 20% fee charge by such and such date. Hope this helps.

You can put in for a deer tag only. It is alot tougher tag to draw then the combo elk/deer tag. If you don't draw the tag you will get a point. It will be good for any combination license.
