Mountain Whitetails

Anybody have any experience hunting whitetail deer up away from the river bottom country? I keep hearing about guys shooting big bucks up where you would typically find muleys during the rut. Not sure where to concentrate my efforts.

I'd definately concentrate my efforts on the river bottoms. I have seen whitetails higher up every year but they are definately more scarce. If you're rut hunting it's pretty simple: where are the majority of does? (river bottoms) That's where I'd hunt.
