Mr. Anti-public land, Mike Lee, needs to go

False.

Government brought us Warp Speed and the COVID microchip so that we could track 2000 mules.

And then there’s those national labs, NASA, etc who all employ real live scientists.

You can say that government doesn’t innovate, but you can’t deny that government policy uses your money to drive innovation in industries that you don’t like.

Kinda, sorta.

Which sells more EV.

Mileage standard?

Or cool cars from Tesla?

Yeah, Tesla get kickbacks from taxpayers.

But so does all the other EV, and the majority will crash because the product they create no one wants to buy.

Profit drives innovation

Folks who talk about "global"....... do so to make themselves look good.
A need for it to be a global initiative is reality. Places like China must curb their emissions and pollution, or is taking further steps really doesn’t do enough. It’s just the truth.
There are people who believe in this so much they don't drive cars, live off the grid, etc, etc.

Then there are the Mitt Romney, John Kerry types who fly all over the world, own multiple houses, to brow beat 3rd world countries.
So….the former are out of touch with reality, the later in this statement live their lives and look for improvements. And yes, we need to also help those 3rd world countries progress, in order to cut their emissions.
Further. The GOVERNMENT doesn't innovate. The GOVERNMENT doesn't invent.
True…they can incentivize, and yes incentive does work.
ACTUAL innovation comes because there is a market for it. When EV becomes affordable, and practical it will take over.
Sure, but innovation some times comes from incentives and necessity. Plenty of things industry would not have fixed had the government not stepped in and made them clean up. Hell….American taxpayers are still paying for the cleanup of mines and industries destroying places. Stop pretending industry just does the right thing because they should, it’s not true and a bold face lie. The taxpayer routinely has to pay to clean up the messes industry create. And PS…the oil industry is giant, if you think they want people moving on from them, well…..
We didn't go from back buggies to cars because the government said so.
The government never said so…..
Here's a dirty little secret you libs don't get. Companies DONT LIKE WASTE. WASTE is spending excessively on energy. Energy cuts into profits. Whoever, or whatever tech gives you efficient energy, will also corner the market.
Companies don’t like waste? Ever seen them flaring off natural gas? That’s waste. Taxpayers own that. Ever seen the mine sites that taxpayers are left to pay to clean up? That’s your taxpayer money covering the waste. Seen the drinking water in Flint Michigan? That’s the waste, that you’re correct, the taxpayer usually has to deal with and not the company. Companies love waste…they just don’t like paying for it. So if they can get away with not improving processes, they’ll gladly do it.
AOC, and Romney giving speeches and talking about the planet, doesn't do ****. And as long as the corporate class, of which guys like Romney are the model for, keep doing business with China, "global" anything isnt starting.
We live in a global society. Sorry that reality will not be going away. Ever.
If Romney REALLY believed in what he's preaching, it starts by ending buisness in China, not finding(taxing) a business here.
If that’s the case then it starts with you not buying the computer or phone you’re using to use this website. Maybe we should just find ways to work toward lowering global emissions….because we live in a global society and economy now, and Americans benefit more than basically anyone else on earth because of it, so I’d really get over it. You people whine about inflation, just wait until you see the price of an iPhone made in the USA.
Nice speeches and slick hair, arent a substitute for ACTION.
But you don’t want action lol?
Biden shutting gas production here to "save the environment", then begging for production in 3rd world countries where there are no pollution restrictions is the poster child for American "environmentalism".
This I agree with. Although I am fine keeping our oil reserves safe and untapped and our landscapes left alone. So you’re also making a perfect point here why we should do all we can to move away from fossil fuels as quickly and realistically as we can.
Romney and his ilk simply want to outsource the pollution.
Again, you clearly haven’t watched the conversations or what he actually said. He said we need to curtail other countries emissions, not Americas. He said we are doing too much to cut emissions, while other countries are doing too little. 100% correct. He actually wants to cut pollution globally, and not make it only Americas problem, because there are countries who are emitting way more than we are.

Also @hossblur he just introduced this so….no….he clearly doesn’t want the US outsourcing to China….he simply wants China to clean up their pollution if the US is going to do it. Reality.

Here @hossblur ill even post an actual clip from the conversation, since you clearly just want to cherry pick and aren’t going to watch it:

He actually largely agrees with you more than he does me to be quite honest.

And? When the global initiative ( Paris accords) are given the middle finger by China, India, Africa, Middle East, and Latin and S America, then what?

You going to take them over? What is Mitt Romney going to do about it?

American/European arrogance is believing the east will do what the west tells them. There's no evidence that they plan to, in fact "China Rising" is 100% about China being the world superpower.

Which means, the west, has a lot of pretty words, and "calls to action", then they jump in the private plane, fly home to the mansion and tell themselves they "did something".

As we listen to the greens, China buys our farmland, Saudi buys our water rights

Pretend world vs real world

Ya. What he wants is government "investment" where the government assumes the risk, guys like him assume the profit. Just read the fine print on the CHIPS Bill. That's how these things will happen.

Then, after gov is in control, the Hillary Clintons of the country will sell off the materials, like she did Uranium stockpiles.

Oh you’re certainly living in a pretend world yes.

The government assumes the risks, and clean up of most companies. The “waste” you say big businesses don’t like….they actually do….they just like to pass it onto the government. And no….he’s pretty clearly stating he supports America mining for more of the minerals we need, including oil and gas as we progress to a greener future, and that America should not hold the sole burden of becoming green until the rest of the globe starts doing their part. I get your cynical over everything, but nothing he’s saying there is wrong, sorry.

The government "assumes the risk" because guys like Romney allow it. They write the laws, they grant the exceptions.

Why do you think a job that pays six figures raises millions to hundreds of millions in "campaign contributions".

Romney hasn't taken a principled stand his entire career.

A Pro Choice Mormon when he wanted a Mass. governor job. Candidate who sought Trump's endorsement, publically. Republican Governor who created "Obamacare". A dude who owns numerous homes, who continuously flies everywhere who preaches Climate Change. A "hunter". A corporate raider who's destroyed hundreds of lives, yet claims to be compassionate.

And no, China has no interest in climate change. They have interest in being the dominant superpower. They are super happy to let the west destroy themselves. No amount of Greta Thomberg or Mitt Romney speeches are going to change that.

As we watch in real time what happens when dumbass libs run countries in Europe and destroy their energy production, relying on a hostile Russia, you'd think we would be accelerating our energy independence. Instead, we talk about "green" and let 3rd world countries supply us, or middle eastern monarchs.

But yeah. I'm sure in countries where folks battle to survive day to day, they will rally around Mitt Romney and stop the beach at Martha's Vineyard from being covered in water.

Not always. For a lot of the nukular stuff the goobermint always owned the liability. The US was in most cases the owner and customer.

Its been decades* since the regulatory state let anyone off the hook. That’s why everything comes from somewhere else.

*There are exceptions in “emergency “ cases - like the border fence.

Government, or at least “government money”. The dividend distribution methodology is a little sketchy though. Since I see bloomberg is being a pita, its one of many articles on the fusion announcement coming tomorrow.

Fusion announcement.

Made to bouy the "Green new deal crap".

Now I'm e will need gazillions of taxpayer dollars to support it.

And the it, they don't know works, because they melted the monitoring equipment so they are guessing it works.
