LAST EDITED ON Dec-03-04 AT 12:54PM (MST)[p]Montana Girls Buck (pics)
I looked forward to the Montana Hunting season because it would be the first time one of my kids was old enough to pack a gun and have a chance to shoot. All of them have been with me many times hunting but this was the first season I could help them kill game. One nice thing about Montana is that the state gives the first year hunters, who pass hunters safety, their licenses and deer"A" tag free of charge to encourage kids to get out and hunt.
Here are some pics of the season and my daugher first buck. I know it isn't a monster but in my eyes it is a cherished trophy because I got to share this experience
The Huntress
Some spotting help from little bro.
Sucess!!! We spotted this buck on a hillside about 600 yards away and had to skirt around eight does to get to him. We end up on a ridge opposite of him. I range it for her and the LRF reads 281 yards. She puts down the bipods and get steady and asks me to range it again. Still reads 281 yards. She steadies and squeezes off a shot. The buck jumps and stumbles and rolls to the bottom of the hill stone cold dead. Perfect double lung shot.
Best and most rewarding experience I have ever had hunting
