Muddy Gap, Wyoming

I'm looking for some information on a decent camping spot near Muddy Gap for mid-october. Will be hunting deer in 87 and lopes in 68, and muddy gap borders the two units.

Just looking for a decent spot to put up a 12 x 18 wall tent for 10 days, that is as much out of the wind as possible. Would greatly appreciate any info (pm's welcome) on possible spots to camp.

Thanks.

There lots of ridges/valleys south of muddy gap. North of muddy gap is flat as a pancake. You shouldn't have a problem finding a camping spot on blm land.

You will find just south of muddy gap numerous ridges running east/west, more or less, on the east side of the hwy as they approach the Ferris, which run in a similar direction. The valleys in between the ridges would be a good place to camp. If you haven't gotten the BLM map for the area (bairoil map) that shows surface management, get one as this will help you find a spot that is not private.

Sand draw between the Ferris chain and Bear Mtn. on the eastern end of the Ferris chain might be worth your while to look at. It's on the "back road" that runs from north or Rawlins on around to the Buzzard Ranch and out on the north end around Alcova.
