Mule Deer Antler Growth Question?

I posted this on the Mule Deer Forum with no response so here we go New Mexico.

I have heard a rule of thumb and wanted to know what everyone thinks.
Either one way or the other? If a mule deer doesn't fork on the fronts he never will or is it if he doesn't fork on the backs he never will?

Anyone have any idea about this or is it an old wise tell?

Thanks and have a Merry Christmas NM MM Forum.

I am not sure Tye. Either one would not surprise me. I have not heard that old wives tale.

My only belief is by their 3rd year they pretty much show what their frame will look like and then after that they may get some junk off the frame or recess as they they older, but, that is just my opinion.
