Elk assassin it was my grandpa first buck. Won a car in the old ziniks contest. 1957 was the year I believe. His name is joe Lyman the deer has also been called the marie Duvall buck. When the store shut down the heads were suppose to get back to owners but his never made it home
Man if it was lost in a fire I might cry knowing it may be gone...in an old orange addition cover of utah biggest bucks its picture twice. One as shoulder mount in someone's home and one on skull plate. I want to say the one in the home shoulder mounted was taken after they gave mounts back. My dad talked to the man that took the photo for the book and he remembered taking it but could not remember where he was. I believe the photographer is no longer living
That's it. That was the first buck he ever killed. My dad has searched on and off for 20 years but I think he and I need to get serious. With genapda getting older and health not the greatest I would love to have him see that thing in person once more. Problem is I'm not sure where to begin
Back about 15 years ago there was a guy who posted on this site all the time who was a big time collector of trophy mule deer heads. He would have been the one to ask, but there was a big falling out and he hasn't been around in a long long time. Don't recall his real name nor his handle here. Think his collection was on display in a hotel or store or something in some out-of-the-way town in Idaho.
Hope you find it.
Mark
My hunting spot is so secret, not even the elk have found it yet.
Maybe try Rusty Hall or Robert Warren. Didn't he purchase "Utah's Biggest Bucks" from Robert L Warren? Seems like Robert did a lot of leg work when he put the book together.
Many years ago there was Don Schaufler of Ennis, MT that was buying and collecting. Not sure of status today. At one point, I remembered he posessed the #1 NT buck taken in my home state of Nevada. Do a Google search, that may help you.
If I remember correctly, wasn't it a small hotel, or motel, in Idaho? I feel like it was up around Salmon? It had a rainbow logo or used rainbow in the name... I will look in my messages and see if I can find any more info.
