Muzzy rules?

I was watching Greg Ritz hunt bulls in Utah today on the tube, noticed he was huntin the rifle hunt but chose to hunt with his muzzy, and believe he had a variable power scope on his rifle which is not legal during muzzy season here in Utah. So my question is if you have a rifle tag in your pocket for whatever state may it be Utah Colorado, Oregon or any state in the west do you still need to obey all the laws for the muzzy season?

In Colorado you do not. You can use scopes, sabots, smokeless powder, etc, during the rifle hunts.

In utah if you are on a Muzzleloader hunt than 1x scope is all you can use. If he was hunting the rifle hunt, which is usually "any legal weapon" type of hunt, than you could use your muzzleloader to knock down a Elk, using a powered scope.

Actually in Colorado, if you use your muzzleloader on elk during rifle season, you still have to use full bore projectile and 50cal minimum. 45cal sabots for elk are not legal.

Gander is correct. Projectiles must still meet the bore requirements.

In Idaho on an any weapon hunt you can use a scope and sabots. On a ML hunt ML rules apply. Ron
